How to Turn your Video into a Blog Post in 4 Easy Steps
If you’re spending lots of time creating videos for your business and think you just don’t have the time to blog, think again! Blogging for your business is a great way to establish yourself as an authority in your niche, build trust with your audience AND drive more traffic to your site.
A really simple way to repurpose your content and make it available on multiple platforms, just by posting the link, is by turning your videos into blog posts.
It’s easier than you might think. Read on for a super straightforward four-step system to turn videos into blog posts quickly and effectively.
If you’d rather watch a video on this instead of reading, check out the original below!
1. Create a Video Or Choose An Existing Video
You can create a video in whichever way you prefer, then record it and upload it to YouTube, Facebook or any other social media platform, or simply save it on your computer.
2. Get a Video Transcript Using Temi
The easiest and fastest way to get a transcript of your video is to use a speech-to-text transcription service like Temi.
If your video is already hosted on an online platform like YouTube or Vimeo, you can just copy-paste your video link to give the system access to it. Alternatively, you can upload the clip directly onto the Temi website.
The system will then turn the video into text for you, giving you a full transcript of everything that is said. If there’s more than one person speaking in the video, Temi will even differentiate between them.
You may have to edit the transcript a little, take out all the “ums” and “ahs” and make sure all the words are correct. If any of the speakers in the video have a bit of an accent or speak quickly, Temi might misunderstand what they say, and you’ll need to go through it and correct the text to make it readable.
3. Turn Your Transcription To a Blog Post
Now you’ve got your transcript, but you don’t quite have a blog post yet.
Usually, there’s not much structure to the transcript. It’s a long text and will need a bit of reorganisation.
Go through the text, making sure everything is ordered, organised and makes sense. Break it up with subheadings, bullet points and formatting, and include some extra white space to make the layout more attractive. Be sure to rewrite any sections that need it, to improve clarity and readability.
Once you’ve completed those steps, your text will look more like a blog article, rather than just a stream-of-thought.
4. Embed Your Video Into Your Blog Post
Once you have your finished blog post, if your video is hosted on a platform like YouTube, Facebook or Vimeo, you can get the code for the video and embed it into your article.
The advantage of embedding a Facebook video in your blog post is that everyone who watches that video counts as a “video view” on Facebook. And if you’d like to run advertisements at a later date, you can then create a custom audience from everyone who watched that specific video - and show them a Facebook ad.
The Importance Of Having Different Forms Of Media For Your Content
If you have a video, turning your content into a blog post, a podcast or other medium is a great way to reach more of your target audience and bring more traffic to your site.
Different people consume content in different ways, that could be listening to audio, reading blog posts or watching videos, so it’s important to cater to your audience’s preferences if you want a larger following.
Batch creating and outsourcing this task is a great way to save even more time, so there’s really no reason not to do this!
